Parents/Guardians, before using these contacts please stop and ask if it is an emergency; often things are not as dire as they seem initially. If anything happens in the UK, does your daughter need to know when she is in no position to do anything about it? If anything happens abroad, we are carrying a list of contact details and you will be contacted immediately. Due to the time difference in Texas if a minor event occurs that we feel you would like to know about, but it is not urgent, we will email you details of the event and ring at a more convenient time, if necessary.

Travelling

Comfortable clothing should be worn for the journey (jeans are not recommended for travel), and we would advise that your daughter brings a small travel pillow to aid comfort during the long journey. Breakfast is not provided on the Sunday morning so please ensure your daughter has snacks or money available to purchase breakfast.

How much spending money should I bring?

Approximately £50 in Sterling, and $200 should be sufficient.

What should I pack?

Swimming costume, sensible footwear, American adapter plugs, a jacket for the evening.

What about my mobile phone, camera and iPod?

It is encouraged that you daughter documents her time away with photographs and videos, however when involved within the STEM activities provided by NASA full attention must be given at all times, and the use of mobile phones will be prohibited unless otherwise stated. iPods/music devices and headphones are recommended for the long journey. There will be stringent inspections at the airport for electrical devices, please ensure that all devices are charged and can be switched on.
Please ensure that data roaming on mobile phone devices is switched off to avoid excessive phone bills.
†if you bring expensive items you must be responsible for them at all times. Please make sure any expensive items are covered by your home insurance.

Before departure

If there are any changes to your daughters health before departure it is imperative that you provide full details to the Party Leader.

All hand luggage restrictions should be adhered by. Please ensure any medication needed for the flight is placed in a clear plastic bag, and repeat prescriptions are present.
